A couple have been found hanging from a bridge in the Mexican border city of Nuevo Laredo after being disembowelled and mutilated by attackers.

The motive for the gruesome attack was to warn social media users not to criticise Mexican drug cartels on the internet.

Next to the battered bodies was a sign reading: ‘This is going to happen to all those posting funny things on the internet, You better (expletive) pay attention. I’m about to get you.’

Nope, but apparently they were Tweeting their guts out.

A terrible way for any human to be killed and for such a seeimingly petty act.

Wow, there's even a picture of them hanging. Didn't quite expect them to show that.

Is it me or is Mexico close to overtaking Somalia in the "that's one fked up country" stakes?

I'll take this bankrupt rock in the North Atlantic any day over the more lawless parts of Mexico.

I just read through all that, on average 1 killing every 35mins!!

cutting off faces, hanging them off bridges alive then shooting at them....sick fks!

How can people get through daily life with all that going on? must be a hard life.

Pretty sad to read the bit about the 15 and 14 year olds lads that had set up their own wee garage, fixing neighbours cars for free getting killed by "accident" because a rival gang drives the same kind of car as theirs and mistook them for the rival gang and shot at the car killing the lads.

It seems mainly to do with drugs and turf wars, cops obviously cant cope, authorities seem completely powerless and the whole situation looks to be getting well out of control.

Even drugs don't kill as many people as them crazy cartels and gangs do.

Having watched Ross Kemp on Gangs reporting from Juarez it's absolutely unbelievable how bad it's gotten there. The new mayor drafted in 11,000 army and police to try and crack down on the drug cartels but the murder rate there is still sky high. In the week that they filmed there over 75 people were murdered in Juarez alone!

It's you. Mexico have had drug cartels for years. It doesn't make the whole country bad. Somalia's the same. It's the minority, not the majority.

Besides, most of the Somali pirates don't operate in Somalia. They hang out in international waters wink
