Hi folks

I'm looking to get tyres fitted, wheels balanced and tracking done tomorrow for the run on Sunday.

I stay in Dumbarton so Glasgow area would be good. Any suggestions as to where to go? I've not got much cash free just now so preferable somewhere that is reasonable priced!

In case it helps I need 195/55/R15's.

(2 part worn's would do the job as my fronts are ok but I'd like to replace all 4 within the next few months)

Cheers

Jono

Try Gordon Hazelton in Hillington he may have part worns or cheap imports in your size but you might have to try elsewhere for tracking.

You could get the tracking done at my garage. But it's in Paisley so don't know if that would suit :/

Yeah I caled Performance in Anniesland today. Thanks for that.

Michael, do you also do tyres? Paisley is fine for me.

Just been thinking, I may just go for the 4 tyres tomoro. Not sure I want two budget tyres on the front and 2 different part worns on the back. False economy and all that jazz, especially when I'm getting wheels balanced and tracking done.

Considering it's only a few more quid per tyre for decent ones I'll prob just go that route.

Cheers...

We don't do tyre's personally but we have a good contact. We do the tracking though. By the looks of things by the end of the hours today there is a load of work booked in for tomorrow. Would you defo need it for Sunday mate ?

Yeah mate defo for the run on Sunday. I bought the car recently and it came with some pretty rubbish rubber all round. Back 2 are done.

I'd come to you for tracking no probs but how would i go about getting tyres too?

Cheers

Hmmm if it's for Sunday I don't think there would be any chance of me doin it for you mate but I would try "Farmers" on Inchinnan Rd in Paisley. They will do everything your looking for.
Try and get a hold of them tomorrow on 0141 889 6767 and just tell them Reillys recommended them.
Sorry I couldn't do it for you mate we're very busy although keep us in mind for any future jobs wink
Service, MOT, Exhaust, Clutch etc. Our number's 0141 889 5452 (Reilly's Auto Centre) on 38 Blythswood Dr, Paisley.
Cheers

Jono - unless your car is as bent as Lee's 928 was before his geo............tyres and a balance will do for Sunday.
The problem is that you have left it a bit late. Which means you'll have to go with what people have in stock. Ring round the usual culprits: helensburgh tyres, kwikfit, budget, national, gordon, performance, strathclyde tyres and play them off against each other for the size you need - its a popular game - most will price match. Then get over there and get them fitted.

You then need to use the rest of the day scrubbing them in - otherwise kiwi will embarrass you! eek

Seriously though brand new rubber is not what you want - so get it run in before Sunday morning.

See ya soon!

True, get a wee pair of part worn tyre's and then a few weeks after the run, I could get you sorted for a new set of tyre's and tracking etc on time for the next PH Ecosse run maybe ? smile

Hey

Got over to Farmers today and spoke to Billy. What an ethusiastic chap! I mentioned I was advised to head over by Michael Reilly and I got...

..a new set of 4 Yokohamas fitted and balanced for a very reasonable price, and before I could even mention a wheel alignment he told me he was doing it free of charge anyway. Brilliant! He even threw in a free history lesson about the designer of my engine!

So, thank you Michael, I'm very grateful for the recommendation.

And cheers Barry for now making me look even more foolish when Kiwi does embarrass me even with my new found rubber!

Car is finally sorted and ready for a run. See you all tomorrow!

Jono
