From what I've read the woman in question simply planted a smacker on the top of his head.

I don't think he's THAT daft...

Pretty sure his wife knows what he is like.

Non story in my book, probably a few too many beers, but so what. day off the next day, had won a match and 7 days before the noext one. I don't really care if they had a few and tossed a few dwarves around. Bar owner says they wer well behaved and he is probably a decent judge of character

My only concern in this story is that the England players were out drinking during the RWC. Bang out of order.

If rugby players didn't go for pints after a match, I would be far more worried.

rugby is fueled by booze, these are big lads, and the social side has always been part of it. it ain't football.

Feck me, I've never not had a beer after any sporting activity. I honestly thought that it was illegal to play rugby and not get pissed afterwards.

While I can sort of see your point (athletes etc), I'm not sure that a gap of 8 days warrants being completely dry, if that's what helps the team relax.

As Johnson said, they're adults. If they didn't know how to moderate their intake such that it didn't affect their performance, then they wouldn't be in the squad in the first place.

Go and see the discipline and commitment in the Welsh camp. Compare it to England. Welsh boys were offered a day off to go out on the lash and they opted to train. It's not the only reason Wales are playing far better rugby than England of late, but it shows how dedicated and focussed they are.

England certainly didn't have anything to celebrate after that miserable performance against the Argies anyway. It goes without saying that Rugby teams have some of the best piss ups, frequently, but mid-tournament when you're playing awful rugby perhaps isn't the best time to be hanging out in bars getting aholed.

As for Tindall, he's being fitted up nicely by the press. Silly for being there, but not an idiot because some slack knickered local did something.

They are Welsh, they had a great team in the 70s, I think either option is fine, a day off from training or an extra day of training, the issue is the England team need to ensure the lack of training isn't the reason they loose later on and the Welsh need to be careful they don't injure themselves or burn out if they get to the final because they haven't had the rest days.

This.

They're not playing in the Cornwall cup or an amateur event, this is the Worlld Cup and they need to act like the professionals they're supposed to be. At the end of the tournament, fair enough, but midway through I think it's bad and shows a lack of commitment, especially after their st-poor performance against the Argies.

To be honest after that game against the Argies, a very physical hard game, how many of them would have been in a physically fit state to do proper training? They would have been battered beyond belief.

From non sensationalist reports, it wasn't a 'big night' more a few drinks rather than rows of shots etc etc. They had the next day off so I fail to see the harm. Just the tabloids making up cr*p & embellishing a few out of context photos.
