Hi, simple question.

I have a 330d e90 with 18's and i want to get winter tyres as im road warrior and just want to get home to see my family safely. It's obviously cheaper to get the winter tyres to fit my current alloys but are low profiles the way to go... would 17, 16's for example be a better choice?

Cheers

Smaller wheels higher sidewalls. One advantage is the better ride. You also want skinnier tyres.

My winters are 225/55/16's, summers 245/45/17.

Last winter ride and traction far better.

My summers are 245/40 R18 and my winters are 225/50 R17 both approved sizes for my Lexus.

Just found out i need 17's or bigger to clear my brakes.

Will probably just look at swapping the tyres around as the tyres for 17's dont seem any cheaper than the winter 18 tyres.

eBay is your friend! I picked up some cheap wheels for my Audi (good ol' platform sharing) and not only do the smaller wheels make the tyres cheaper, I don't have to pay £50 for someone to fit the tyres to my summer wheels the. £50 to swap them back! My extra wheels aren't costing me any more because of these savings!
