Can the rear window be replaced in a drop top hood, or would the whole hood need to be replaced?

I think most can, I have a Eunos and e36 and both can be replaced.

I've got a MX5 and had a MR2 previous, they both LOOK like you should be able to.

Do you have a particular model in mind though?

Yes on my mazda, no on my Merc.

Depends on the car.

I've seen an Audi cabriolet that I'm interested in (for Euro trip next year), but it has a small crack in the rear screen..

Any decent upholsterer should be able to sort a new screen. We outsource our hood repairs to a local company who can supply and fit a new rear screen for less than the cost of the part from the manin dealer. Usually about £250 on MGFs.
