After some advice with this please folks. We have 2 GSD's, both around 3 years old, one male and a female. The female seems to have some sort of bladder problem where she doesn't realise she is urinating. Doesn't happen a lot but when it does she is completely unaware. Sometimes she can walk past us and we can see a trail of droplets all the way along behind her where it has been dripping out or like a minute ago she was just laying down on the kitchen floor and suddenly she is in a puddle of it. She seems completely unaware for a few minutes until noticing it around her.

Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

First suggestion is to get her to the vets.

Does she have a temp? Could be a bladder infection? But a Vet is the priority now IMHO.

Can happen after they've been spayed or being a GSD it could be spinal/nerve problem possibly.

Either way, Get to the Vet. Not something you could sort without their help.

There are medications that can help with incontinence, if that's what it is. The vet will want to rule out other things though, so take a sample when you visit smile

Have you taken her to a vet.

If not then do so. There arem any possibilities ranging from chronic cystitis to ectopic ureters (usually born with this and noyt common)

So get her to a vet, take a fresh urine sample of hers with you. they will test in house (and may need to send some off) this will advise them whether antibiotics needed.

Has she been spayed? Occ this causes incontinence due to sphincter muscle in bladder not working so well, there are drugs that can really help with this.

So basically get to a vet and they should be able to help, there is no reason to just put up with this esp if she's had no treatment tried before.

Our female German Shepherd "dribbles" quite a bit when she's asleep, and it seems to be a common issue. At 3 years old it was very rare, but maybe twice a year we would find a wet patch where she had been sleeping. When she reached about 8 it got much worse.

Now at nearly 13 years old it's just something we have to live with daily. We found a cheap supplier of waterproof bed sheets that are soft on one side, and there are a couple in each room of the house. She knows she's only allowed to lie down on the sheets so they just get washed/renewed when needed.

You should take her to the vet, and I'm sure they'll have lots of ideas. In our experience nothing helped, but I hope you have better luck.
