'These climbing frames are death traps and should be banned' was Sara from Birmingham's redponce in the Mail to the tragic news that a little lad died after falling from a climbing frame in his school playground.

It's very sad and there should be a full investgation to this accident. But I hope it dose not result in more cotton wool wrapping of kids in this country.

No, I think we should ban everything. EVERYTHING.

Air for example. 100% of house fires could be stopped if we banned air.

My first thought on seeing the climbing frame was how safe it looked. The one in my five year old son's son's school playground is much bigger.

Made of box steel? Over a concrete patch riddled with broken glass?

Those big box section steel 'tanks' were the best. You could knock out all your teeth from only 18 inches on one of those.

Yep. And climbing frames that were essentially multicoloured scaffolding.

The first thing we should ban is Doctors. They seem to be near death every day. It's only logical.

yes They were great. I remember making to to the top of the "big" climbing frame when I was about six and being too scared to come down.

Child dies on climbing frame
Child dies in paddling pool
Child dies crossing road

The common factor seems to be children so let's ban them.

Puggit jnr fell off a climbing frame and broke his arm last year (aged 4).

First thing we did when his cast came off was get him back up there!

I'm with you on this!

I also think the biggest thing you can do to reduce your carbon footprint is to not breed!

I think we should ban newspapers then we wouldn't hear all these things and thus wouldn't have the cotton wool brigade looking to ban everything. Wall E was just a movie, not what we should be doing.....

Anyone remember those iron roundabouts?
They were so heavy it would take 2 of you to get it turning and once spinning you couldn't stop it with a tank.
Of course just leaping on and off of it wasn't dangerous enough so we would spin it up really fast, lie face down on the thing and play Tin Can Tommy. You throw a can under it and then shove your arm underneath (they were about 6 inches of the ground) and grab the can. Then you dropped it and somebody else had a go. Hours of fun.

I completely agree that kids are way too molly-coddled these days but even so, thinking back to some of the stuff we did as kids does make me shudder!

Well, riding my BMX down a slide may or may not be the reason why I have 2-3 scars on my chin..........

But yes, people are stupid (I know I am) and kids do silly, dangerous and often painful things..... In some respects it's a way to learn really....
