Sorry about the 'what car' thread, but was hoping for some help on finding my next car after selling my FN2 Type R.

Heres the requirements :

- Around £10k. Happy to spend less though!
- Must seat at least 4, and have room for a lab sized dog
- At least 25mpg
- Reliable

Any suggestions? All I can think of is an early Mk5 Golf R32, or going right back and spending 5k on a nice ST220.

Any thoughts?

Focus ST might be a good shout.

Don't think the BMW saloon would be very dog friendly, would need to be an estate. Trouble is I'd always be wanting a 330i instead!

I can fit a Great Dane in my focus and in my old mondeo.

A Lab won't be a problem. Both very good cars too.

25 mpg? What sort of journeys? E39 M5 will do 25 mpg on a run.

I'd pick it over most cars past or present to be fair smile

Would love an E39 M5 - but not the most practical with a largish dog? Also worried about combined 25mpg!

A labrador is not going to like being rammed into the boot of a hatchback, realistically you should be looking at estates. Still, plenty of fun estates to be had, especially the ST220 that you mentioned.

Audi S4 - might struggle to do 25mpg, but maybe worth a punt depending on your mileage.

C32 AMG's are fking awesome !

0-60 in under 5 seconds etc for around 5K is a bargain obviously need to spend a little more to get a good one. Around 8K for a tidy example.
