Adjusting Suspension

Has anybody adjusted their suspension, if so is their a special tool for the large adjustment ring? ie like a "C" spanner. Do you need to compress the spring before adjustment? the reason I ask is I spent the afternoon under the tuscan fixing a broken exhaust stub, and noticed all the shocks were set to different heights.

not sure what you mean about the adjusting, the bottom part of the spring has what looks like a adjustable ring above another adjustable ring if that makes sense but i`m sure it doesn`t acually adjust in the way you think? IIRC the dampers can be adjusted on Nitron/avo`s but not on standard RR set up? I might be proved wrong by someone who has adjusted the springs Also are you saying that the front springs have the same rings? My car has RR suspension(according to a C.NEIL invoice) but only has the said rings on the rear so i will be interested in the eventual outcome

Hi Mate, the ring set's the preload, demon tweeks sell a "c" spanner that does the job.All of mine are set at different levels ie front offside no thread visible underneath the rings front near side at least 10 threads visible. Fitted to front and back, may pop to RG and ask them today and see about a 4 wheel alignment.

I've used the 'C' spanners on my cars. It helps to have the threads copper greased, take the weight off the suspension and you should be able to do the adjustments without a spring compressor. Not sure what your suspension is like but I had the top of the spring copper greased as well.

How do you set up the car? I take it the more "thread" showing the firmer the ride? My shocks are wound down so no thread shows and is very stiff and low compared to other Tuscans, with this set up the ride is a little too firm and thuds into the cabin on some surfaces, RG can set up the alignment for £150 IIRC

The OE suspension on my Tuscan was set 10mm higher at the rear than the front ie no threads showing on the front approx 10mm on the rear.Have had the Nitrons set the same although heighs should be set from the chassis.

just got back from a blat up to RG (good chat with Chas) I had a good old nose round their workshops going to have her booked in for a 4 wheel alignment and susp setup
