Where to go for shake down test?
Discussion
Hi
Anyone know where I can go for a shake down test before I go on a track day.
The car will be drivable soon and I want to be able to drive it around to make sure everything is okay before I go on track or IVA otherwise the first time it turns a wheel will be at the IVA test station or down pit lane which may be very short lived. I need to test the clutch etc etc etc.
I am in Kent but will travel if I have to....
Any ideas?
I don't want to hoon about, just to test.
Willing to pay....
Regards,
Gareth

Hi Gareth
The guys at Javelin Trackdays are really helpful. They let me take my car to Woodbridge Airfield near Ipswich when they were running a trackday but rather than sending me out with the others they let me do my own thing on the runway, out of the way, as a shakedown. Give them a call as they are a great crowd.
Cheers

theres an old race track in kent that used to used for rally cross and local racing(I know your car wont go off road.. It owned by Maclaren but locals banned the F1 car testing there.. Lyden i think it was called.. Nearby there is also an old airfield that the boy racers used to play on.. might be worth a call or visit??
Either that or drive arround Brands Hatch if you ask nicely?

Hi
WOW - Thanks for all the replies :-)
I have asked Lydden Hill via email - I won't hold my breath - everything is so insurance and 'compensation culture' shy now days that they won't let anyone do anything. But hey ho, I can but try.
Thank for the other pointers, I will give them a ring.
Can you really drive around if you have a test booked? Does this mean I can drive there and drive back (even if it fails?)
Regards,
Gareth

If you get to go somewhere near the Essex/Kent border, drop me a line I would like to come along (if that's ok)
Yes you can drive to and from the test station (just like you can for an MOT) providing it's booked in.....they will check!
But like s**thotfast said you could get lost trying to find it, after all how many times do you go to a VOSA test station???

It works the same as an MOT there and back even if it fails......But.....If it fails and in the opinion of the tester is unsafe he may issue a red fail certificate which means you cannot drive it home.Regards,
Gareth
