We had a big one of these recently. I'll try and find it for you, even without the damn search.

I think it was the Lotus 72. Certainly the toy car I have of it seems to have most of the lead based paint licked off from when I was very little. smile

A burnt out Rover SD1 that was left in an alley in Hackney in the mid 80s. Strange how a childs mind works!

Several years on, it still looks perfect through these eyes.

Originally it was my dads old Peugeot 604 V6, then 505 V6 (hence why I'm after one now!)

Porsche 944 for me, when I was first properly interested in cars, rather than just pushing them around the carpet this was the chariot I aspired to. There was a series on TV where I aspired to be like the guy who drove one..strange how things hook you in your early teens and kinda stay with you. Ive never owned one yet, but jumped straight to a 968CS and was mightily impressed. Never missed a beat and I should never have sold it. Though I probably couldn't afford to run one properly now!!

My dad had a Porsche 944 when I was a young lad - I thought it was the best and fastest car in the world!

This was in a time when seeing a nice car wasn't commonplace - wealthy people had BMW's and Mercs. Hardly anyone had a sports car - people used to stop and point at the 944!

It was that car that resulted in me later buying a 968, and I'd still love a 944 turbo in the collection at some point.

When I was 5 I remember the screaming of the RS2000 of Doyle's and loved Fords ever since but after having 2 RS2000s those turned me into a rear wheel drive lover too.
I've got a pic of my first RS that in had in 1992 - I'll post it when I get home

A friend game me a beautifully bound book showing cars throught the ages and I opened the page to a shot similar to this.

SS Mercedes. The lines, the curves, the form. Beautiful. I was hooked. Still want one.

I've always been interested in cars and anything mechanical but the car that got me properly interested in cars is my first car; don't think I'll ever be able to part with it...
