Who uses octain booster,
When I got the sx it had a couple of bottles of valve master with octain boster, well thats run out so i had to find an Aussie equivilant,I could`nt find a ready mixed one so Ive started using Nulon valve protector and then adding in the Nulon octain booster which ups the 98RON to 100.4RON and you cirtainly notice it. Im told the higher octain levels help to keep it running better as it gets hotter, climate i mean when its 35 degrees plus,
I`ve now filled up twice so thats all that in it now and it seems to be running great on it,i just thought i would put it out there to you for your thoughts......

Cheers
Adam

Hi Adam, how much do you have to pay for a bottle?

According to their website one whole 500ml bottle treats 60l, i.e. about a tankful. Is that correct?

Here in the UK I use the Valvemaster Plus (that you got with the car) and a bottle treats around 2-300l of fuel, so the cost per litre is around 3p, which is less than the premium we have to pay for super unleaded, plus it's more convenient to use any old filling station that doesn't necessarily stock it.

With the SX it really does need it, the effective compression ratio being rather high.

I've been MILLERS CVL TURBO OCTANE BOOST 500ML in the racer, it only treats 20Litres, but gives me about another 10 BHP (5%)

Hi Adam.
Yes it is expensive I think it was around $20 ( I got a few things that day so not sure)I am able to get it in 4ltr containers plus a mate is able to get it for me in the trade I'll let you know the cost. you are also correct it only treats 60 ltrs........
I can get a valvemaster, Infact I have a bottle but it's not plus i.e no octane booster and I couldn't find one to add from the same brand, I thought if I'm mixing it, it would be better if it was the same brand and therefore compatable. I contacted castrol and they told me it's not available here, I even looked at shipping some in but, too hard....
So I resurched other products and the nulon has good reports the only downside is the cost.
But as I said it is a marked improvement, very noticeably more horsepower "MORE POWER" now how can I possibly go back?
So am I right in thinking you use 95? and the valvemaster, or only when the 98 isn't available? All our servo's do 98 here so it's all I've ever used......
I'm wondering could you over do it, it would be easy to become an addict!!!!!
No seriously, I am only putting in what the bottle says but could it be too much?
Cheers

Adam (Oz2) otherwise this thread could look a bit strange, I only talk to myself sometimes!
There is no pinging, but I've noticed a bit more cracking and banging when backing off the loud peddle;-)

Looks and sounds similar, and I would say at a guess the boost in BHP would be about that too....
Well worth the extra $$$$$$$$$

Esp in the racer it's a very cheap upgrade..
I was a bit sceptical, but one of the other racers gave me a bottle to try, seeing as I only get to use the car in a race, and they can be 4-8 weeks apart so hard to compare back to back,
But I run a logger, (so similar to being a rolling road all the time), and on comparing the logged data (it can simulate BHP and torque very accurately) and there was a noticeable increase, I've not been able to compare lap times though, as the car has been having other problems all year.

one thing to note, is don't get the stuff on your skin, even after it's been added to the fuel it makes your skin burn.
