Ive been toying with getting a 330i Touring but they're as rare as adults at Garry Glitters house at the mo. So Ive been lokking at the 350Z, they seem to be great VFM, fast, RWD, good kit etc. So whats the catch? Are they reliable? I know fuel must be quite an expence but how about servicing etc?

Yeah they're great cars and I'm currently running one along with my Ferarri. Since I got it, I do find myself driving the Ferrari less so there must be something good about it! To me it feels solid and well planted and they are quite quick aswell. Don't know about the servicing intervals or costs to be honest but I get about 25mpg combined give or take.

I see loads around the £8k mark on 53/54 with between 50/80k miles. Have there been any major faults or issues to look for?

Bit of a leap from an E46 Touring to a 350z... hehe

Can't comment on the Z but 8k will get you in a decent Boxster as well. And a 3 litre Z4.

No major issues. Engines are very strong, although the odd 06/07 facelift car can use a little oil (but not in a terminal way).

Allow me to point you in the direction of: biggrin

We only wanted one for the two dogs but they can get fked. I wouldnt trust a Boxter and I do like Z4's but theres something about the mix of Jap mechanicals the fact that I don't see many 350's about. Do they sound nice?

Nope... Nissan. Why do these things persist?

Nope, flat as a pancake on the standard exhaust, about as exciting as a Nissan Note. If you can find one that already has a decent exhaust system from the likes of Nismo, Greddy etc, it would probably be a big improvemnt.

I thought it looked good, from the outside. The interior I thought was a bit plasticy.

Drove well and sounded ok to me

I really like them but they do have a bizarre engine noise as standard. I see a few on the commute and with the roof down I'm always disappointed at what I hear. Might sound nicer from inside though.

I had the same engine in my G35, and thought the engine sounded nice. Not too loud, but plant your foot and it's quite 'enthusiastic'.

I am in a similar position to the one you were in James by the sound of it. Out of interest, why did you prefer the R32 over the Z?

I've had one inbetween VX220s. It was heavy and incredibly thirsty but the V6 sound was the best sounding engine I've ever owned.

Was it noticably slower and less "fun" on B roads etc?
