Anyone got good sites they can recommend for a dinning room set of table and chairs?

Keep checking on ebay but nothing yet has come up in my price range. Looking for a oak or similar table and leather chairs

Here would be my recommendation http://www.topfurniture.co.uk/

Bought a dining set and sideboard from here earlier this year.

Excellent customer service from advising best chairs for the amount of use they will get, sizing, matching items (if there isn't an obvious one) through to delivery (6.30am at my choice!). Well packaged/protected for transit, all perfect condition. Some table tops are separate to the base due to size and are incredibly heavy, but thats solid oak for you.

Its a big punt to spend over £2k over the phone/net without seeing the goods in a showroom first (they do have one though), but am delighted with ours.

Although this company http://www.pinesolutions.co.uk/ have alot of good reviews, we had a nightmare with them (non-delivery, then couldn't supply, delay in refunding, customer service centre appalling - they don't return calls ever).

Budget will be a big factor here - we can supply solid beech chairs from £120 upwards, oaks/walnuts/ash being more.

Standard fixed 8 seat dining tables can be made from £1200+

Is there a local charity furniture stor near you? There is one in kendal near us that has some beautiful old furniture in it. Saw an extending oak table with 16 chairs for £1k!

some great bits of furniture on those sites just out of my budget.

I think I need to widen my viewing to oak finish or even laminate.

Shame I love the feel and smell of oak units but my wallet doesn't.

If you want the table to last any time and look good during it then be very careful when looking at veneered tops.

Yes they are cheaper and can look good if nicely done. But if you are not careful using it, and caring for it - it will deteriorate (sp!) very quickly.
