So I quit 11-a-side football about a year ago, however I've just started five-a-side, and have bought myself some Adidas Sambas, as it's on astro turf. Anyone use them for five-a-side?

wouldn't have thought there will be enough grip from them and any pattern on the sole will soon be ground flat if it's old school sandy stuff. astro boots with the pimples are ideal really.

Sambas are great for feel and striking the ball.. I must have had about 20 pairs since I was a kid..Not a lot of cushion on the sole though if it's an old-school type astro. I also had some of these for astroturf which were good (but have worn out now)..

Just played in them, feel lovely nice to strike the ball with and felt good when taking my first touch, however they aren't great at supporting the ball of your foot. I got them for 15 pounds of eBay, hardly used! I think their £40 brand new. So a nice little bargain. The astroturf is quite new, so it's not sandy it's almost got blades of fake grass, so the grip was ample.

2 things....

1)I've been playing on 3G (fake grass and rubber crumb) for 7 years with Nike blades, they work very well. For genuine astroturf, forget Sambas, get some proper astro boots.

2)I havn't played for the last 2 months because I tore my meniscus(knee cartilage) in early August and haven't been able to play or work for 8 weeks. Im 45 you know! Be careful out there.

Defo. If you playing on a 3G pitch gets moulded boots. for example; the retro adidas copa's ... best boot i've used.

soon as it rains you'll have no grip at all with them sambas
