Mercedes Stourbridge, West Midlands (formerly Swinford?)

Does anyone know the dealer in Stourbridge, West Mids, that used to be called Swinford? Is this the same as the current Mercedes dealer in Stourbridge?

I am tracing the history of my 190E 2.5-16. It was originally supplied by them back in 1990 to a Phillip Holland of Rowley Regis then moved to a coatings company called Weilburger, presumably as a director's company car, being as it would have been worth >£30k at the time.

Yes Swinford motors (MB & Porsche) used to be on Grange Lane Stoubridge, owned & run By John Edmunds, who moved the franchise to the site of the old Bus Station on the Stourbridge ring road, building at the time one of the grandest MB showrooms in the country, IIRC this was around the early nineties, anyway bad timings with the economy resulted in Edmunds selling out, cant remember who to, but they subsequently sold it onto Drayton Group

Weilburger appears still to exist. Weilburger Coatings (UK) Limited was incorporated in 1981 and was known simply as Weilburger (UK) Limited from then until 1999. Registered office is in Runcorn, Cheshire.

Great pics, so that's where my car would have been bought and picked up.
I traced the owner of the car from Weilburger in the end, by emailing the company with a nicely worded request. He gave me some stories and info about trips to continental Europe and such, very interesting.
Traced 2 other owners as well.

His father owned both the Merc & Porsche dealerships (and local councillor IIRC), in the 80's, the Porsche dealership went by the wayside when the Porsche bubble burst in the 90's and the Merc dealership was sold out as it stretched him to the limit building what was in those days an absolute palace just as the recession kicked in big style

Edmonds jnr does/did trade in used cars where you discribe.

In the 80's haydays he used to have a new Morgan every 12mths... a constant rolling order when you had to wait about 7yrs for one, reg JE---- (think he had a couple of JE plates usually on a high spec 911 or 928)

Father always had a S Class with JAE11 (or 11JAE) on it

NB both pictures show the new ring road showroom (Porsche was probably Edmunds own when Porsche franchise had ended)
