Hi all,
I was hunting around online over the weekend for some replacement HT leads for my Mk2.5 MX5.
Found these guys www.dcperformance.co.uk and with an offer they're currently running got a set of 8mm leads for £23.42 plus £6.99 delivery, BARGAIN!

No contact details on the contact form
The protected payment images (sage, paypal etc) aren't real - they should be clickable individually and point to their respective 3rd party sites
Being punted around a forum by someone with a low post count.
Forgive my suspicions, but it sounds like someone's trying to be the next GSF from their bedroom. No bad thing in itself, but not trustworthy enough to warrant me buying anything.

Yeah mine uses 2 leads and the other spark plugs are straight to the coil packs.Due to people complaining even mx5 parts now has a note on the performance leads mentioning that it is infact correct to only receive 2 leads, as some people would panic when they received only 2 instead of the "normal" 4 leads.

All the 'missing' information is there if you look, they use Google checkout so the security 'stuff' is just an icon for that.No evidence it's a company

Yeah wasn't sure if I was breaking any rules posting what appears to be an advert. But, genuinely am just passing on what I believe is a really good find, and I followed their link to paypal, paid via Paypal, which has processed correctly (checked by accessing paypal directly), and have had contact from them since confirming my delivery requirements. So I'm confident all is well.
Those with a Mk2.5 out there are correct to confirm I only require 2 leads, the 2 coil packs are mounted on top of the other sparks.
Price is good as compared to other sites offering the same 2 leads for my car.

Point taken Prof'. However, I'm not buying the leads because they're wider and will accomodate the national grid, merely because mine are probably original, looking a little weathered and I am suffering a noticable problem of small "lulls" in power while driving.
I believe the MX5 is known for cooking it's HT's and for this price it seems a cheap option in attempt to fix this problem.

Don't knock them, Magnecors are great, especially on anything running LPG. LPG needs a good spark and on a brand new OEM set of LR leads my Disco V8 ran like a cement mixer. Fitted magnecors and it was like night and day! 83AndyJ said:

I was only playing. I'm just an OEM man (unless it's cheaper or you've a genuine reason of course). I believe the MX5 is known for cooking it's HT's and for this price it seems a cheap option in attempt to fix this problem.

I thought the coilpacks were the issue not the leads?

I'm not sure i'm technically proficient to be checking the resistence of the leads...
Hope to god it's not the coil packs, they're a little more than £30 and with an impending wedding next year, i'm limited in fundage!
To be honest, i'll try the shiny new leads, see if we're running a little better, otherwise make do for now.

Wait so you're replacing a part without checking it's broken? Not really much of a bargain you're just binning perfectly good parts is it?
£5 multimeter from machine mart. Then set it to measure resistance. Then put one probe at one end, of your lead and one at t'other. Then voila. La resistance.
Should be around 5kOhms but you'd need to ask Mx5 owners club for exact details, they'll be able to talk you through testing your coilpacks as well I should think.
Google suggests I was correct that coilpacks are a common fault (but that isn't to say HT leads aren't as well!).

I do have a multimeter sitting in the bottom of my toolbox. An electrician friend gave it to me once. Perhaps it might be a good time to unwrap it, and poke a few things with it!
I'll see how things go with the new leads and have a nosey at the coils at the same time.
I'm a bit of an addict for fiddling with car bits, so will enjoy the process either way.
