...you can buy this 1:8 scale model that costs 12x as much as the real thing.

Clearly all scale models are incomplete unless you use things like diamonds on the steering wheel, and gold on the alloy wheels.

Call me old fashioned, but I think I'd happily settle for a real Aventador rather than this ridiculous trinket!

Says it has 3 world records for being expensive. I imagine that's a reason behind it.

Person who made it can claim to have 3 world records. Only a cretin would buy it really, I imagine it won't hold its value.

I was amused to read the website where they say that $500,000 of the final selling price will go to charity. Noble.. but why not just buy a real Aventador, donate $500,000 to charity anyway, and still pocket a huge saving.

Given that diamonds, gold and other such materials are used, there is a high probability that these will have been mined in places under morally questionable conditions / circumstances, etc - it seems pretty amusing to use such materials under the banner of a "good cause" :|

$2 million worth of gems and other materials - starting price $3.5 million, are they insane?

It looks like a Burago model from Toys R Us that your little sister has got hold of and glued all her "Pretty Princess Jewel Factory" fake diamonds to.

Some stupidy rich oil billionaire in the Middle East with probably buy it, its only expensive when you dont have unlimited funds, for a lot of those guys the price is immaterial if they want it.

Even if I had £500 million in the bank I could think of better ways to waste money!

I'd rather have that scratch-built Ferrari that featured on Clarkson's motorworld (IIRC) years ago.

I'd rather buy a Mclaren F1 and a CLK-GTR. And still have some change leftover.

yikes that's a bit pricey for a model!

Is it just me who had a vision of the prep for the photo - "right, we've got the model car, bring the real one in." -crunch- "what was that?"
