Winter tyres on E55 AMG

Hi All
Did search but not came up hence topic.
I have winter tyres on my E92 M3 and swear by them, even in heavy rain. The wife's E55 AMG last winter had to be abondoned during most moderate snow falls. My question is has anybody put snow tyres on their E55 and how good are they? Not sure due to size/torque of the car how much difference they make.
Looking to purchase soon before prices rise as winter approaches.
Appreciate any feedback.

You can't have searched very hard as there is a chap posts here who uses Vredestein winter tyres on his E55k AMG estate all year round. He is local to me and I have seen the car around and about. He swears by them. We have had some pretty bad snow up here over the last two years. You can get pretty much any size you want at www.mytyres.co.uk. And you're right to buy now: the prices rise quickly from mid-October.

I use the car all year round, the Winter tyres mixed with the Fantastic ESP make it a great winter beast. Driven correctly it will go places 4x4's with summer bands on will not get.
How local are you to me? I have seen a couple of 129's around, maybe one was you!
Thanks for the replies. Did search on pistonheads search engine, nothing immediately obvious.
E55 Max - unless I'm mistaken that looks like you at Knockhill approaching Duffus Dip. One question if I may - did you just put the rubber onto existing AMG alloys or did you buy a spare set of alloys? Do you have 18" or 19" AMG alloys?

Well, I'm nearly always at Staithes Garage hoping that Phil has gotten round to fixing whatever car is there. I run a smoke silver r129, a smoke silver 320 TE and a black 500 SEC. I live on the coast about 30miles north of Newcastle.r129sl said:

I am running the 18's, the ride is quite firm enough for the country roads round here and I need the extra rubber with the state of them!
I just swap the tyres over in Octoberish, and then back again when the weather warms up. My Tyre fitter does not charge me for this, maybe something to do with running 6 cars!
