American style fridge freezer (Samsung)

I have one of those American style fridge freezers with the ice/ water dispenser on the door.

I know I need a new water filter (red light) but for some reason the water dispenser stopped working yesterday!

Any ideas????

Have you tried resetting the water filter? From memory, you hold down 2 buttons on the door for 3 to 5 seconds, as it may be that if the filter isn't changed it will stop working after X amount of time. We have a similar one, and even though we don't have the filter fitted, it still turns red to show that the filter needs replacing!

There is a very small bore plastic pipe feeds the water to the rear of the fridge,

make sure that hasnt been crimped .

usual reason is a frozen up water tank in the bottom of the fridge, caused by the fridge evaporator freezing up. You can see this at the back lower inside the fridge, give it a tap see if its frozen, if so your problems are only just starting and beware if you defrost it, the container may already be split due to the ice and will leak like hell when the ice melts.
Several recalls on these appliances, might be worth calling Samsung, have your serial number at hand.

I had the same problem and fixed it using the instructions on this page.
If you do attempt to repair it yourself, the only thing I would add to the instructions is that the last panel is stuck on with a tape and requires some force to pull it off,
you may get away with just taking a hairdryer to the white plastic water container but it is worth checking out the main cooling system as mine was frozen solid around the fan.
