My K11 Micra goes far too fast

Well the fan does the car certaintly doesn't.

The ventilation fan is either full speed ahead or stopped which is annoying as it doesn't work in postions 1 or 2 only 3

Any ideas

Well if it was an Elise I'd say the resistor unit was rotting away, is it possible that the Micra has the same fault? Off will obviously work regardless and full speed presumably has no resistors in the circuit so might bypass the unit completely?

Where does the resistor pack hide on a micra?

And what does the S stand for on the back of a 1ltr K11 micra

It'll be the heater resistor, my K11 and my friends Primera had the same problem. There easy to replace and the Nissan dealer normally keeps them in stock.

Behind the glove box, I couldn't tell you want the S stands for though.

Damn, I thought this was going to be a discussion about pedal-to-the-metal K11 action.

I once got 104mph on the GPS out of my old 1.0 one. It was a very long straight. It was downhill. It was also very, very windy. It was on the autobahn obviously.

I got mine into the mid 80's on the M6 once, but it didn't like that and it sounded like it was going to rattle into it's component parts. I liked my K11, I used to chuck it round the back roads because it remined me of the old Mini.

Take out glovebox, it held to the fan housing with a single screw (it's easy to spot as its the only thing on it with wires going to it)

And while you're there, ditch the pollen filter. It's probably been in there since the car was new and is blocked to buggery. And yes, you have to cut the plastic behind the glovebox to get it out

Common problem on the k11. Wow you have an S?? I find like any performance car when they get to this age they fall into the hands of people who can't afford to maintain them. Fit a new resistor, service it, put it off the road before the frost comes and you kill yourself and get a safer daily driver eg motorbike.

It had done about 150,000 miles by that time so it was well loosened up by that point. I was rather astonished though, I'd assumed it would only do that in freefall. I still miss the thing, it was unburstable and just took all matter of abuse without flinching. In the end I took it off road for 18 months because I was given another car and sill rot got it. I was annoyed as it had done 177,000 and I was going for 235,000 which is the earth-moon distance.

I also miss being able to skelp it into bins and the like and not caring. It made parking in supermarkets almost joyous!
