What car have you had that you enjoyed driving just for fun?

You know the sort, the type of car that you'd get up early on a Sunday morning for just to take it for a hoon?

Mine is a TVR S2 I had, just the right amount of power for the road, go kart handling and sounded great!

Caterham 7. Had it 10 years, done 80,000+ miles in it, hopefully will never need to sell it.

My old Elise and the Alfa are great for early morning drives.

Borrowed Alfa GTV 2.0. So many problems i cant even begin to list but it was to date the only car ive driven that made me actually laugh because it was so fun

Depends how you define "driving". It's not just about maximum acceleration and face distorting G forces.

It's about how it makes you feel and the smile it puts on your face. Some cars, some non sporty cars can be very good at this.

All of the cars I've ever owned, but the Elise the most.

My four mile drive home from work often mysteriously turns into 20+ miles.

I did say it was a great laugh..it was hopeless and soft in the corners but it was great fun and my dad had fun/enjoyed driving it.

MGB GT, TVR S2, VW Corrado. All brilliant in their own way, all of which I've found myself nipping out on an errand and going on a much longer drive just because I was having fun.

In a different manner, I used to love driving about in my old E28 525, comfy interior and auto box actually made London driving bearable. It was the first car I've driven where I've actually enjoyed driving slowly! If you want to decrease your chances of being caught speeding without being frustrated I can thoroughly recommend one.

Both (BMW) Minis, the sorted one of my old Saab 900 turbo's, the Chimaera. The Minis are good fun all of the time, the TVR is great fun most of the time.

For me all of the cars ive owned (bar my first vw polo 1.2) have always put a smile on my face taking them out for a weekend hoon.

My nissan 200sx - I ONLY use it for fun. Had it 7 years now, I just hope I can keep it as long as poss.

Having said that I can enjoy any car I drive its all about when and where and how.

Purest fun car? That'd be my old Caterham I reckon. Felt like a four wheeled motorbike and the tweaked K-Series with the six speed close ratio 'box was such a racey combination.

I prefered the TVR S3 before that for general use, though. It wouldn't have seen which way the Caterham went on a twisty B-road, but it was still great fun with more in the way of comfort and practicality.

Every car I've bought myself, with the exception of a couple of winter stters.

Shame none of my old company cars would do the same, but they were meant for high mileage not fun (rover 620, Audi A3, Vectra, Mondeo x 3, sierras x 2, cavalier)

Bike Engined 7 Type kit cars, an Absolute hoot to drive, although you can get a bit wet which takes the shines off sometimes
