Simple. A clean example of both. Not sure which MX-5, but lets assume you can choose any.

Ones a sports car one isn't. The only reason to opt for the 205 is for practicality....Old thread was here without poll: http://pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Chrysler crossfire or megane r26. Ones a sports car one isn't.
Would you only choose the megane due to practicality? An R26.r on the other might be a different story, but you'd be buying it for a totally different reason, so you might as well also include a 2 seat pick up truck into the mix.

If it was an only car, the MX5; if it was along-side my current car, the 205.
I'm the same
The 205 GTi feels faster and is more fun in the right situation, but I couldn't live with front wheel drive every day, so if it was my only car it'd have to be the MX5. Because of this I haven't voted on the poll..300bhp/ton said:

To put that... I can't believe you haven't driven one 300?
I haven't driven a 205, but I've driven a lot of other fwd hatches.I'm not saying it isn't good, I'm sure it is, and in a 205 thread a few months ago I said I'd like to have a go in one. But I'd still opt for the purpose built 2 seat open top, rwd sports car.

This is how I feel. Roof down on the mx5 completely transforms the car, and subsequently hoon.I'm not saying it isn't good, I'm sure it is, and in a 205 thread a few months ago I said I'd like to have a go in one. But I'd still opt for the purpose built 2 seat open top, rwd sports car.

erm, a Crossfire is a 2 seat GT not a sports car. And yes I'd pick it over an R26.

Any links or anything to support your claim its not a sportscar? I'm pretty sure it was marketed as one at launch but im happy to be proven wrong. An R26.r on the other might be a different story, but you'd be buying it for a totally different reason, so you might as well also include a 2 seat pick up truck into the mix.
What about the slk its based on? Not a sportscar either?
Anyway away from semantics, what would make you prefer the less fun and inferior car?
Is the ethos of a car and how a car is conceived and designed more important to you than the end result?
