Ive been searching vehicles on the british car auctions site for myself and it got me wondering if there are any trade companies who will go and view and bid on specific vehicles on a customers behalf at a pre arrange fee above the hammer price? Alot of the vehicles id be interested in are a long distance from me, so it means travelling and then theres always the chance the car wont be what i want when i get there or it goes for too much. The trade can now bid online and get a full vehicle appraisal online, so as long as the vehicle is up to scratch, it could be done online. Id be happy to do this with a reputable trader aslong as they took a set commission on top of an agreed price.

Some auctions will place a proxy bid for you (like you see them do on "David Dickinsons Crap in the Attic"). But, tbh, I think you're trying to have your cake and eat it. If you really want a cheap car, do some legwork!

No doubt there are as they do this for the Japanese auctions.

BUT they will require a HUGE deposit in case you "change your mind"

Did you even read what I said?
I didn't say I want a cheap car did I??
I want to be able to pin point a car in the spec I want, then pay someone to view it and if it's ok, go buy it for a pre arranged commission

What would happen if you changed your mind once you'd seen it and the trader had already bought it on your behalf?

I'm assuming that he's looking for a VERY Specific car. Maybe a classic of some sort? Just my guess... Wouldnt make sense to pay someone to do something if you're looking for a bargain now would it?

I've seen Joe Dowd mentioned from time to time for years, but he must be cracking on a bit now! http://www.auctioncarbuyer.co.uk/About-AuctionCarB...

I had a look at:

http://www.outsidelane.co.uk/

They were very good but the cash went towards a house deposit in the end.
