Stick some lights on that, and I'd drive it to work every day. hehe

And what it would actually look like if styled by an F1 team;

Odd how in this case the genuine concept looks more extreme than the compter rendering...

But don't you guys agree that seeing a head sticking out of the cockpit makes it more interesting?
If the F1 cars would look like the RedBull ones, they might as well be remote controlled.
It's more Wipeout than F1

I think it would be awesome if it was more like Wipeout! biggrin

Surely we could still have onboard cameras to see the drivers and what they are seeing (heads up displays etc).

I don't think you need a driver IN the car for it to be fun racing. I'm surprised there aren't more virtual; racing classes. You could cut out all the driver restraint and roll-cage stuff for a start.

I've been hearing more about these recently, and seen some testing of the canopies.

Only thing that concerns me, is that getting out in a hurry might not be so easy.
They could use explosive bolts, as on aircraft.

That car was designed as a no-rules all out F1 car. A human wouldn't be able to drive that, necks aren't strong enough.

Although the cockpit design is probably closer to what they would do. But as others have said, getting out of a closed cockpit in a rush would be difficult.

Come on, I know wounded drivers are useless for the team, but to finish them off like that...?? wink

The ejector seat could be a new thrill for spectators. smile

I think they'd leave out the ejector seat. Being ejected from a flipped car would make a mess.

It might right the flipped car though, along with the mess.

Said in jest, Zod... though I'll spare you the whoosh-parrot since it wasn't *that* obvious. wink

I think the explosive bolt idea's not a bad one, but no one seems to worry too much for Spots Prototypes (Le Mans type thingies), so why are people so concerned about the safety of getting out of a closed F1 car? Am I missing something here?
