all worked ok - plugged in LAN cable to laptop, now i can't get on the internet via laptop.....
the 2 computers are connected, and can transfer files - but the lappy wont connect to the 'net...

Two things need to be set:-
The laptop needs to know that the PC is the "way out" ("default gateway" in PC speak)
The PC needs to be configured to forward requests from the laptop out onto the public internet. Recent versions of Windows do "Internet Connection Sharing".
As you've had it working in the past, hopefully that will serve as enough of a memory-jogger.
tried everything.
i think it's got a corupt file or dodgy virus that hasn't been picked up.....
....ah well - time for a clean install methinks.....
thx anyway :stressedout:
Same thing happened on my system when I was using ICS to conenct the laptop to the desktop. It's a Windows thing, it just screws you sooner or later.
I've just bought an ADSL Modem/Router. £70 once working it stays working.
Sorry I can't suggest a fix but if I were I would consider doing the same as me.
