It is with some sadness that we count down to the Spa Six Hours, as while we might have one of the best races in the world to look forward to, it's also the last time that we will be able to share a press release from the organisers.

Yes, once again their write-up is far more elequent than ours would ever be, so we are pleased to reproduce the final reminder in glorious, unedited, technicolor for your enjoyment:

Over the years and editions, the F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours has established itself as the top event in the field of competitions for classic and historic vehicles on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, as also in Belgium. An exceptional weekend, making it a rendezvous not to be missed for all aficionados of the genre … and more especially the British! Their Gracious Majesty’s subjects, who worship motorsport, have made a speciality of this ‘club’ type meeting, where more often than not the actual results take second place, only preceded by an atmosphere like no other.

The result is therefore up to all expectations: on Friday 23^rd, Saturday 24^thand Sunday 25^th September, the F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours will not only be offering a 6 hours endurance race bringing together pre-1965 GT and Touring cars, scheduled on Saturday from 16.00 through to 22.00hrs, but also and above all ‘sprint’ type races giving spectators the opportunity to admire the wonderful F1 single-seaters ranging from the ‘50s through to the ‘80s, and spread over several grids. One month after the Belgian Grand Prix, it is the history of the F1 World Championship that will be displayed in a series of tableaux each one more exceptional than the others...

Undoubtedly this 2011 edition, brilliantly orchestrated by the Roadbook team quite clearly shows that the event continues to grow. If on the one hand quality and quantity have been fighting it out to be the star on a sporting level, in the paddocks, the F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours continues to grow … « Our Paddock Village is drawing ever bigger crowds, and this year we have been obliged to turn away traders who were hoping to set up a stall, Alain Defalle explained. Unfortunately the space available is not extendable, and everything has been fully booked for many weeks already. »

Over and above all the paddock areas are fully dedicated to a family audience, who for example will see the younger ones, aged between 6 and 10 years, thoroughly enjoy themselves on the trikerbikes track (a kind of three wheeler bicycle on which the child is in a lying down position), laid out in the endurance paddock, whereas the teens will be heading off for the video games marquee, filled with Kinetic simulators offering larger than life sensations. As for the adults, between the prestigious watches (TAG Heuer, B.R.M., etc.), the range of clothing in the colours of the F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours, the books, the scale models and a vast array of other articles and products, they will be thoroughly spoiled for choice.

But that’s not all! This year, the F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours boasts some new collaborators, each more prestigious than the other. « In the heart of the Paddock Village we will be welcoming the Limora company, European leader when it comes to spare parts for classic vehicles, Vincent Collard continued. In the same vein, Classic & Sports Car, the magazine renowned throughout the world as the reference in the field of classics will be present, located in a mezzanine and a loge. As for PistonHeads, the internet portal, bringing together in excess of 5 million internet users, they in turn decided to associate themselves with our event and this by offering their members some advantageous package deals. But you still want more? At the initiative of the Jaguar Clubs of Belgium and Luxembourg, more than one hundred Jaguar E-Type cars will gather at Francorchamps, and each owner will be offered a magnificent scarf in the colours of the 50^thanniversary of this legendary model. In the same vein, the … 1000 drivers who come on down to the circuit during the weekend will be expected at the Roadbook boutique in the heart of the Paddock Village, to receive the official F1 Historic & Spa Six Hours 2011 polo shirt.

As for the members of the FBVA, the Belgian Federation of Vintage Vehicles, there will be between 2000 and 3000 who will come to collect their free t-shirt. « It’s quite true, this year we have the distinct impression that everything is taking shape, Alain Defalle continued. This implies that our event has definitely reached maturity. And it’s principally through word of mouth. The people hear others talking about our event, so they come on down a first time, and as from the following year they bring along their friends. So we can count on a pretty solid client base, and above all very loyal. »

As a reminder entry is set at €15,00 for the three days for PHers, giving full access and including the Paddock Village. Free entry for children under 12's too, so don’t miss the rendezvous …
