Following on from my "doors wont open" thread, I found the problem was a broken wire in the mirror and that the button has stopped working. SO I replaced the offending wire and as a temporary measure replaced the push button with a flick switch I had. It worked a treat and will do until I get the replacement button. All this was achieved without removing the mirror, just separating the 2 halves to give enough room to access the wires.
All was well until I set off today and realised that I needed to adjust the mirror to its correct position. I moved the mirror and the door flew open !
Turns out that when I moved the mirror it pinched one of the wires and shorted it out.
Any ideas on whether this will have caused any dammage ?
My guess is that the fuse will have blown, but I would have thought the other door button would be on the same fuse and that works fine. When I make the contact, I can hear what I assume is the relay clicking, but the door release is not activated.
Help please !
Cheers
Phil

OK, I'm a little nearer to the problem.
All fuses seem ok.
The power/signal gets though the wiring to the connectors of the lock operation box (black and about 5" by 3", in panel behind seat belt reel), but the box fails to function and push the lever to open the door.
Does anyone know how to remove this box or if it can be taken apart to see where the problem is ?
I don't see any obvious way to open it or to remove it from its mounted position.

it seems that I'm the only one replying to this thread !
Well it looks like the lock operating box is attached to a metal plate that forms part of the lock and is in turn bolted to the door frame by 3 bolts(hexagonal or allan key heads).
The box itself has the name GEMTEC on the side.
I read somewhere that Chimaeras use lock parts from Vaxhaul. Does this sound like a vaxhaul part to anyone ?
Surely someone has come across this problem before ?
