Well the tyres on the back of the Tuscan are wearing faster than the fronts, for some reason.

I've done a few searches and found many different recommendations over the last few years.

Readily available choice in my size - I've come down to Falken 452, Toyo Proxes T1 Sport, Yokohoma S.Drive, or Yokohoma Advan Sport V.103.

Anyone like to share any current experiences of these tyres, good or bad?
Interested to hear from everyone, not just TVR owners.

Anyone know the difference between the S.Drives and the Advans? price is similar at this size.

Ok well I'm off to see if i can find the weights of the tyres, meantime, any comments welcome!

I've run FK452s on my M3 since the tyres it came on wore out (Continentals), and on many cars over the years.

I've never ever had cause to fault their road or track performance or durability in all weather bar last years snow, when the car was the limiting factor rather than the tyres.

I've tried the falkens and the toyos, but only know the yokohama A drive, not the S drives.

The Falkens are very nearly as good as Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3s in the dry, but there's a difference in the wet. Still decent tyres though, although I'm going back to the Eagle F1s again once this pair wear out. The wear rate has been ok - about 10000 miles on the main axle and there's a few k left in them yet. The rear Eagle F1s have about 20000 miles on them and have another year left on them yet.

The Toyos have too soft a tyrewall for a relatively heavy front engine car like my Alfa and while they were fairly grippy, they squealed a lot. Don't know if they'll be any better on your lighter car.

If it's any help, I have the Yoko A drives on my MG B, therefore less than a third of the power of your TVR, but they're very progressive in the wet and I have to deliberately make them squeak in the dry. They're the best tyres for a B, not sure about a TVR.

255/35/18.

The TVR is about 1200kgs laden, so 600 kgs each end.
So yes quite light, but not in the 7 category.

Toyos are popular with TVR owners, but I wanted to hear from a broader range of experience!

I have found the Falkens good on an SX 200 in the past, Eagles were OK but going back a bit now... Yokohama S.drive seem to get good reviews as a road tyre are they the successor to alfa pint's A.drives?, don't understand why they are so close to the Advans in price.

You know what, I'm going to go a bit left field.

You can get the Fulda Sport Control in your size for £125 each (not sure how that compares to the Falkens and Toyos) - they're a hugely underrated tyre in this country IMO.

Pretty much every bit as good as the original Asymmetric, with a nice solid sidewall too.

A good few of the Z4M lads are Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta converts - although the car is a fair bit heavier at 1500kg.

They're good value for money too, at about £130 in your size.

I've just gone for the new Michelin Pilot Super Sports and they're even better than the PS2s, but they're not available in the size you're after (and they're twice the price of the Vreds).

Alternatively you could go for the new Continental SportContact 5P (£185), which has been sharing top honours with the new Michelin PSS and new Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2 (not in your size either).

I've had a number of sets of Falken FK-452 and I think they have performed very well indeed, however...

....I believe this performance has been achieved at the expense of longevity, and have been surprised (each time) at how quickly they have worn out.

Anyone else experienced this with these tyres?

I'm not really up to speed on TVR tyre sizes, are the rears the same as the fronts? If so, why not swap them around so the wear at the same rate? Then you can at least replace them all at the same time to keep the handling nicely balanced.

The tyres are the same size, but the front and rear wheels are different offsets.
