I'm working in Hong Kong at the moment and will take two days off mid October (thursday and friday) so four days altogether.
I was thinking of a quick trip to Kathmandu, has anybody here been there ? Is it worth a four day trip there without having much time to travel around Nepal ? Is it expensive 'round there ?
Thanks to the collective mind of PH

Absolutely worth the effort to go there.
It is one of my favourite countries. There is so much to see, do, experience, watch, take part in etc etc.
The Kathmandu Valley is a vibrant and diverse area. You can see the a living God, climb the steps to the Swayumbunath stupa, witness the sandalwood funeral pyres on the river banks, explore in Thamel, cycle up and down the valley..........there is loads to do.
If you can manage it, a quick flight up to Pokhara is a great spectacle.
In Kathmandu, I have stayed here http://hotelvajra.com/hotel-in-kathmandu.html.
It's a across the river from the centre, but in a good elevated position and one of the few Newari style buildings in Kathmandu. It has a great roof top bar too!
Make the effort and go - I'm sure that you'll appreciate it.
