New Toy!

My new toy arrived today, a Canon 1Ds Mkii to replace my 1Ds Mk1

Really excited to have it but family commitments tonight and a new advanced driving candidate to see tomorrow mean I won't get chance to try it out till my day off on Thursday

As much as I loved the Mamiya I realised that unless I bought a Phase One back for it I wasn't going to get much use from it so decided to upgrade my full frame body. Now I've got 1D mk2 for motorsport and 1Ds mk2 for landscapes.

I don't know much about Canon's.

yeah 3+ years apart at a time when things were shifting quickly. more pixels (16 vs 11 I think) bigger lcd, better high ISO, better battery life etc.

I got it mainly for the bigger lcd, whilst the 1Ds mk1 gave cracking quality the screen is quite small.

Sorry, yes, it is the resolution which makes the difference.

First impressions are very good, the aforementioned screen, much quicker processing shots, better high ISO.

I've got a day off, hopefully will get chance to try it in anger.
