Tyres 205 45 17 - for r53 BINI MCS
Discussion
Hello chaps.
No I haven't died, just been too busy!
right then. my tyres are rogered, so mush so that I think they have caused the DSC to throw a wobbly. I am normally very good at changing them early but my falken ziev 912s are like F1 pirellis - lasted well then fell off a cliff and just wore out!
i don't want these again because they're a bit pance IMO.
i mostly want good alround grip. esp in the wet. and ideally aquaplaning protection. they also need to have pretty good dry weather grip - but i am not thinking yoko paradas if that helps with the sort of thing i want. i'd like the set of 4 to come in under £500 quid ideally.
so what shall i buy? my tyre man can get anything and then fit them cheaply in a surly manner. but what he can't do is provide any useful advice!
i have had great experience with vredestein ultracs in the past and so i am tempted by the ultrac cento. i have also heard good things about the uniroyal rainsport 2. i have never had toyos but they often seem to be regarded well. the proxes 4 and T1R both come in the right size... what's the difference..?? etc etc
so thoughts.
now the second thought.. shall i get some winter tyres now and just nurse them through the next month or so? if i did what do i buy? nokians are often mentioned.. but they don;t come in the right size... i'd be tempted by vredestein wintracs but they're a bit dear.. Nakangs snow sv2..?
it's a nightmare! i went on "pneus on line" and was frankly baffled by the choice! okay so there are a page of stupidly named chinese ditchfinders... but even in the £100-120 range there are frankly gazillions of options.
so in summary - do i go for wome winters? if so which. or do i go for 'normal' / 'summer' and if so shall i just go for the ultrac centos..?
thanks in advance.
