We have a work session with these guys this Friday at Mira.

I'm not sure what to expect. Don't know how rewarding 2 laps at a circuit you don't know, in a car you don't know, with a stranger sat next to you, could possibly be.

Any experiences out there??

WTF is a supercar lifestyle? Makes me think they're going to cover you with fake tan, make you wear a chest wig and stick you in a gold Lambo in Altrincham.

They run the supercar driving experiences held at Mira ( & other places ).

I'm there with my work team this Friday, we booked it as a team building day via Groupon. It was sold as an all day adrenalin ride worth £620.00. Turns out you get 3 laps in a choice of two cars!!

Suffice to say, we're not that impressed so far.

So it can come as no surprise? Just be very happy you're not having a fish pedicure.

Will be very interested in how you get on - there's something very odd about this company - they had a stall at Race retro and it was very hard to get a handle on what exactly they were selling - they were giving away free track days, but you had to attend a sales pitch while you were there - sounded all a bit time share

I did a similar day with them a month or so ago
Drove TVR T350, Ferrari 430 and Porsche GT3
The TVR was the most fun
Depending on your instructor they do encourage you to push hard, had the Ferrari at 145 on the small straight at the MIRA track they used
It cost me £99
was it value for money - yes
Is there a catch - yes
Watch out for the after driving 'timeshare-esque' selling of other experiences

Interesting.

Following my initial complain at the cost of 3 laps, they've already started selling us extra laps at £79.00 each!!!

Wrote this in another thread on here a few weeks back:

"I did a supercar lifestyle experience at the weekend at MIRA.
For approx £135 incl insurance i got three three lap sessions with an instructor and a couple of hot laps in a GT3 Ascari with Mike Wilds.

Cars available on the day were a DB9, XKR, TVR Sagaris, BMW M3, Porsche GT3 by Oakley and if memory serves correct an F430 if you had paid extra. There was also an Atom which wasn't circulating when i was there.

The experience was sold as a "taster" day and there was a bit of a sit down where you were told all about the company to see if you were interested in joining as a member. There wasn't too much of a hard sell and I didn't really mind this part of the morning as i felt that i had got good value for money from the experience.

I did the DB9 once and the GT3 twice and the GT3 was a great experience, especially trying to learn to use the sequential box properly. The instructor was very good and he measured up my level of experience and really let me have a go, well to my limits at least.............

Ascari was a decent way to end the experience and it really gave me an appreciation of how much i would need to learn to get anywhere near driving the thing properly and also the kind of forces these cars generate.

Having done plenty of Trackdays, a couple of experience days where revs are regimented and a couple of palmer sport days i would say this was more of a middle ground between the two in that if they felt you were capable of having a go then have a go, if you werent then have a bit of a go and if you just wanted to say you had driven the car then i think they were probably quite happy to let you pootle round"

Thinking back from the above the things that didnt quite stack up for me:
1. Paid extra to avoid any insurance excess damage on the car but then there was no safety briefing or crash helmets (me or the instructor)other than when going in the ascari. Is this a Mira thing that enables this??
2. The "sit down" to go through there offerings was just plain confusing after a bit.
3. I believe my experience was booked for me through an advert in one of dailies and i got three, three lap sessions and the ascari for the same price as it appears is only two, two lap sessions via groupon.

Overall, still had a good morning though.

Just got back from my Supercar Lifestyle Experience!!!

My £625.00 "all day adrenalin ride" started at 2.00pm & involved us standing around doing nothing until 4.00pm!

We were then faced with a choice of a couple of laps in a TVR T350, or Ferrari 360, or 911 Porsche. There were other cars there ( Aston & M3 ) but they were out of action.

We were promised hot laps with a racing driver at the end in an Atom or an Ascari, but these were also out of action at the time, so we ended up in the back of the M3.

It was poorly organised, with a poor choice of cars. There were far too many customers, & i would have to say the circuit wasn't terribly exciting! They didn't appear to be on top of the situation & were clearly struggling.

Luckily they didn't try to sell us anything, but they've got a long way to go with this IMHO :roll eyes:
