Importance of service history?
Discussion
Looking at a couple of different cars, Both 1998 60k ish miles.
One has full service history til '09, cam belt change at 30k ish but is due a service (and cam belt was done in '04 so really is due that too)
The other has history to 2000 then services in '05, '09 and '10 but cam belt was done at last service.
Both seem to be in pretty good nick, both around the same price (though I'd guess more room to bargain on the one with less history)
Not really sure why but I prefer the one with less history as it has had an expensive service done recently, it is also a LOT closer to me.
So, would these gaps in service history put you off?

What cars are they?
At that age they'll either be bangers - in which case I wouldn't worry too much and buy on condition. Or they'll be worth a bit - in which case I'd look very carefully at what had been doneded.
Really? My car is 12 years old and is certainly not a banger. It isn't worth much either - a grand tops.At that age they'll either be bangers - in which case I wouldn't worry too much and buy on condition. Or they'll be worth a bit - in which case I'd look very carefully at what had been doneded.
