As the title says, I am looking at replacing a faulty ABS sensor on my 1998 compact 318ti, any hints and tips for doing the job? seems straight forward enough????

Easy job usually, just held in by a single bolt. Have heard exaples where the sensor has corroded into the hub before and required drilling out, but it is just a push fit so even worst case scenario means a bit of drilling to get the old one out, but they are mostly plastic and resin anyway.
If you are using an aftermarket sensor be warned they don't always work, i have been left with the ABS light still on after fitting one of these, BMW's tend to like genuine sensors.
