A couple of months ago I posted a moany thread describing my dilema of how much was it worth spending to keep my 112k miles 'N' reg 1.8mk1 on the road. Since then I've had the sills done.

MOTed yesterday. 1 rear ns brake pipe corroded... That's IT! Every thing else fine & dandy.

Happy days smile

Is that 140k miles or KMs? Yes it isn't as venerable as some of the 5s here, but it is still a daily driver & does live in a swamp hehe

I had mine done for the m.o.t last month and it cost me £180 and the job is of really high standard, Cheap compared to what some people have paid I know.

was that just filler or did they replace the outer sill?

Reason i was asking is because the OP is reasonably close to me and i need mine doing soon.

I took it to PL motors at Greenbridge. I did this on a bit of a budget. It is a bit of a 'workman' like job, done well enough but not exactly pretty. Parts of the old sills & rusty bits have been ground out & metal plate welded in. Then black paint applied to lower sill edge. If the welds were ground down flush & paint matched, I dare say it would be a pretty 'invisible' mend. My intention is to do this myself at some point & maybe even match the paint. I'll try taking a pic at some point if it is of any use.

Mine failed yesterday frown I knew the suspension was knackered (it's been running on bumpstops for months) but the rear has (only just) started leaking, so they had to fail it.

Orders some coilovers last night so fingers crossed I can fit them myself and get it sorted without getting raped for dealer labour!
