Help an old fart's library
Discussion
OK I am well into middle age.
I have an iPod and an iTunes account.
I want to build a library but I'm not sure where to start.
Can you recommend bands, albums or tracks please?
This is the kind of thing I like:
Babylon by David Gray
Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol
Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve
Handbags and the Gladrags by Stereophonics
I would like more stuff like that but I never know what to type into the iTunes search facility.
Thanks.

Have a look on amazon and use their recommendations system and see what that throws up.
As someone else said sign up to last.fm
If you can still get spotify accounts for free sign up there too so you can listen to stuff before purchasing.
Use youtube to find tracks as well.
But off the top of my head..
Keane
Crowded House
The Corrs (maybe?)
Mumford & Sons
KT Tunstall
Coldplay
Damien Rice
Norah Jones
Jack Johnson
James Blunt
James Morrison
Richard Ashcroft (ex verve frontman)
Fleet Foxes
Paulo Nutini
Ed Sheran
The Kooks
Razorlight
Disclaimers:
1) You might hate some/all of that stuff..
2) Other PHers certainly will

I'm not sure what you've heard of or not (though I'm sure you must have heard a lot of the above!), but I sense a sort of general middle of the road type theme.
Try some of these perhaps...
Cherry Ghost

John Mayer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ5wTHM1zkw&ob=...
Death Cab for Cutie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se4NBz5N_SA
I wouldn't bother with Richard Ashcroft's solo stuff... pretty tedious in my opinion!

I like all of these, as well as the artists the OP mentioned. As someone else said sign up to last.fm

BTW what is middle aged? At 39, should I replace trance, funky house, metal and drum n bass with the bands mentioned above?
You certainly should be considering a Rover 75, a pipe and some slippers by that age

The Bluetones
Semisonic
Fountains of Wayne
