Partner working for a competitor

I looks like my OH will be working for a competitor of my company and we’ll both be in business development roles (although marketing vs. sales). Already I’ve had to stop her talking about what she’s going to be doing so that we don’t get into a ‘battle’ and, atm, neither of our companies are aware that we have an OH working for their competitor but they’ll find out in the end.
Not sure whether to let them find out or tell them first? As my OH isn’t quite ‘signed and sealed’ in the new job it’s probably better to hold off either option as letting her new company know might give them the opportunity to change their minds (unlikely I think but you never know).
Thoughts?

Unless it's in either of your contracts keep quiet. It happens loads in industries with small numbers of employees. At least it's a great excuse not to bore each other about work during dinner.
100%.Any idea how many solicitors are married to legal sec.s or other solicitors? Same in many, many fields.
Just leave work at the office and make sure you each have a lockable draw in your study if either of your work at home from time to time.
She's got the job. I don't think there is anything in my contract (but I'll check) and I'll get her to double check too but I suspect neither company has considered this happening.
It is a bit weird being in a meeting this morning talking about competitors which include her new company. I guess I'll get used to it but it will at least stop us talking about work all the time which happened a lot when we worked for the same company.

Not wanting to put a downer on your OH's new job but I've been in this situation.
I met my OH in IT Recruitment... we both got made redundant and she went in to Estate Agency. She hated working Saturdays so came back in to Recruitment (same sector as me at the time)... it was so bloody awkward talking about "Your day" or expecting the other to be happy for you doing well / getting a new client etc...
We never actually went up against each other (as she would of lost... obviously!!!) but being "careful" about what you say to your OH is not nice and it did cause friction between us.
We're both still in recruitment but I've changed sectors... I've given her loads of leads etc so we're now happy again!!!!!!

Yes, I think its going to be a bit awkward. She'll be telling me how well she's doing and it'll grate as it'll effectively be a competitor telling us that they beat us (amazingly it does happen!).
