Hi peeps..Just noticed again that my tyres are wearing un-evenly..The N/S rear is wearing on the outer edge and the O/S rear is wearing on the inner edge..The O/S rear also looks like it sticks out more..I will have to get the alignment done soon as i will need a couple of tyres as well..Doah...More money...Cheers..Ziga

My rear nearside sticks out more but the tyres seem to be wearing evenly. Rear squirms under hard braking however............... Alignment is on my list for the winter.

Thanks for that mate..i guess its worth putting into Dan taylor TVR after all..He said it would take a couple of hours and cost a couple of hundred quid..Thats if the UJs are ok..If the lower suspension bush needs fixing and the wheel alignment is done prior to it would it mean having to do the wheel alignment again?..Should the suspension bush be done before it..Cheers..Ziga

Yes, it would be better to change bushes first mate.

The difference may be very small, but if you're spending money having alignment done it's worth it being right for as long as possible!

I need to get mine done too.

Not sure if it's the camera angle but its looks quite extreme, I'll make sure nothing is broken / loose to make it that bad.

It didn't look very alarming when I last saw it, not like a fully laden and worn out Triumph Spitfire or anything!

I think that is the side where the suspension bush needs doing..Sometimes it looks worst..I took the picture fairly straight on..I understand that the bushes have to be pressesd in?...What are the bushes from?..It sounds a right pig of a job from what ive read in the bible...Cheers..Ziga

Hey up jumbo, mine had a difference in the amount of protrusion on rear wheels when I first got it oh so many years ago but it turned out the body wasn't quite in the right place so we ended up loosening the body bolts and bumping it over till it was equil

Hiya! This is what i suspect is my problem as the previous owner had the rear axle off the car but couldn't sort it.

How big a job is it to move the body? Does the whole body need loosening and lifting or is it just the rear that can be shifted in isolation?

I have an issue with the offending wheel rubbing on the arch. Springs are probably original and tired mind.............

Sounds stupid but check you don't have one odd 8 1/2" rim on the back. My 400 had one and from what a gather several others did too. Mix up at the factory maybe? but the correct size rim sorted it.

I remember that we undid the bolts in the base of the boot, the floor, and also the ones one both sills but i think also removed some of the rubber packers from the side we needed to move towards, shifted it with a bit of fat force then possibly popped the rubber back in once we were happy and bolted it all back up again,of course it does mean having to remove my sills on a series 2 350i and buggering about with carpets, almost turned it into a shed!!!!

Hay Zigs how can you get tyre wear when the car has hardly moved while you have been sorting it hehe
Do you have a tyre garage that can check your wheels first and see what the current setting on the car are then you will know how bad it may be.
I had a basic toe on the front and back done at gates tyres a large tyre place in Carlisle as i have the ability to do camber my self and what a difference in the feel of the car, ill have to go back as im finnishing the rear drive shafts and bearings.

Any how...hows the car running after the rad, fans and other bit you put in there, are they all working good...

Before you spend a lot of money with Dan get all your bushes done first! They are not to hard to do! Otherwise he will sting you for a lot of money if he has to do them!

The "after diagram" and measurements do not appear to tally with the pictures you took.
A right side excessive neg camber could mean you have a UJ gone or it is set up for NASCARbiggrin. (Right side goes first, one wheel drive on a non lsd rear)

How bad is the lower bushing, how far off centre is the pin? A 1/16th" would pull you right back. (from your pic IMHO)

Tyre wear can be misleading if they were rotated before you did your 100 miles, possible they were the front bu66ers.
