Is this real?

http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/3236183.htm

Even if it is real, I can't understand
  1. How the price was arrived at (beyond "we charge whatever we like, pal")
  2. Why on earth someone somewhere would consider £50K realistic for this?
Opinions, chaps?

Surely it is worth what someone is willing to pay for it?

You would be surprised what some folk are willing to pay to be the first to have a new fashion accessory.

Evoques are being snapped up without the buyers even having a test drive.

Because it's a very new and desirable model with a big waiting list.

Some large sunglasses wearing, velvet tracksuit wearing WAG will have it regardless of cost.

Because someone people want to the be Joneses - i.e. the people for other people to catch up with.

Luke.

Clearly it's for the butler's man's doghandler to move the hunting dogs around in.
One wouldn't be seen dead in any town where a car such as this might be present...

Someone told me that they're taking orders for 2013? Is that true?

And also, that someone got one.. Has a buyer lined up already for a year down the line and won't lose any money on it..

I actually like these, even thou they are designed for women. But just seem 20 k to expensive but as long as the quality is there then it should be alright.

Given how well they are selling, I don't think Land Rover will be coming to you for advice in the future.

Near enough £50k on something with only a 2.2 litre diesel?!

I didn't like them in pictures, better in the metal. I'd want more engine though.

Cars are becoming more like white goods, catering for the consumer market. So they can sell well and make the company money in the short term, but because they are based on fashion, fashion has a habit of changing very quickly, and those sales can disappear as fast as a dole dosser shown a bath.

That's excellent news for Land Rover.

But it really is a pointless trinket. And that price is mind boggling.

I saw one in the tin for the first time last week.

Looked like a squashed and stretched Audi A1 to me.

I can think of better things to spend 50 grand on.
