Safest way to receive a deposit
Discussion
I am currently selling my car and have been advertising for the past few weeks. Yesterday I had a text inquiring about the car. They said they're from Scotland (I'm in Nottingham) so viewing before buying isn't really an option for him and he seems happy to buy the car from the info and pics I have supplied. He has suggested that he will send a deposit for the car and will be able to come and collect within the next few weeks.
Now I am happy to take a decent sized non refundable deposit (£200) and keep the car off the market for a few weeks but I am unsure of the best way to take the deposit to best protect me if it does turn out to be a scam or timewaster. If I use Paypal could he get the deposit back if he decides he doesn't want the car? I have stated it is non refundable and he seems happy with that. Obviously I don't want to give him my bank details or my address to send a postal order to and I'm not particularly clued up on banking matters tbh.
So has anyone got any ideas and apologies if this is in the wrong section.

No I wouldn't dream of it hence my apprehension although I suppose there may be some people out there that will. It seems to be a trend with people texting about the car rather than ringing aswell.
What use would my account number and sort code be to someone nowadays except for depositing money.
I would use paypal but as its a non refundable deposit my experience with them says that if he starts a dispute they'll give him the money back.
