ECU software

I should be getting an ecu cable in the post tomorrow from Steve Heath and have looked at the software on thetvrsite.com but there are two versions. Which should I be using, old or new? My car is a 1997 4.2 V8.

new version runs on all cars I believe, that is what I use.

Steve Heath got the cable to me as promised so thumbs up for for his service. initially I couldn't get it to connect (I ordered it with the serial to USB converter) but once I told the laptop to name the USB as com port 1, it worked a treat. I was expecting one of the O2 sensors to be faulty but all ok, as was everything else. Did a fault reset and nothing new came up.

Car is now running much better but not perfect. I am going to reset the throttle pots tomorrow and in the manual as part of this process it says to clamp off the purge line before warming the engine but the online manual pic is not clear and I am unsure which line this is. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
