I'll be needing to transfer from time to time QAR into GBP in my UK account.

Can anyone recommend someone for this service, decent service and decent rates?

Not asked my bank yet, but assume they will rip me off.

I presume I'll get a better deal if I move larger amounts? Any idea what the minimum economic quantities are - 10k GBP?

Banks have bands for converting foreign cash, so to that extent the more you change the better. Bit of an unusual currency gives you loads of scope to get fleeced. It's tricky to negotiate with your bank, so you may be better off with one of the "bucket shops" like Travelex, Currencies Direct or the like.

I use UKforex for this usually, although have not checked whether they cover that currency

I´d steer away from banks as the exchange rates are not normally that good. Thats why I use UKforex as I was getting 0.89 per euro as opposed to 0.84 offered by the bank.
