Apologies for the silly question, but am hoping for a quick simple answer.

So when you buy a full set of Racing Reds for a chimaera you get two longer ones and two slightly shorter ones. The longer ones are exactly the same length as the standard front Shock Absorbers on the Chimaera and the shorter ones are about 40mm shorter (this is partly in the tube body not just the adjustment).

So I assumed that the longer ones are for the front, however I have spoken to Nitron who suggested that the longer ones go on the back !?

There are absolutely no markings on the springs etc to be able to tell them apart, I only have the length to go on so can someone give me a firm steer on this please so I don't swap the fronts back out for nothing.

Many thanks.

Matt.

I would go back to the supplier and ask definitively, (is that correct?), what's what!

You will have different weight springs, front to rear and you don't want them on the wrong axles.

Indeed I agree Mike, and I spoke to Nitron this morning, its just such a nuisance there are no markings on the springs to tell them apart banghead I'm just a bit suprised they have a different length of replacement shock to the original, and was hoping for a confirmation on what they are telling me.

Hi
i don't know if it's any help, but my leda shocks were also about 40mm shorter than the standard shocks. they have been on for about a year with no problems, but the car does ride a little lower than before.also i think i bought a s series 1 off you a few years ago.so it's not just me who can't stay away from these tivs

Hi Russell, thanks for the confirmation. So it was you who bought that silver S1 from me !? What happened to it, it was a nice little car that one smile

Hi Matt,

Just had a quick look at my set up.

I have 325 rear & 400 front?

The rear springs appear longer with 10 spirals & the front have 9 spirals?

I do run slightly low all around (TVR Speed Champs player).

Mine were supplied by Neil Garner.

The fronts have the adjuster at the top and the rears have the adjusters at the bottom - makes it makes it slightly easier to "get-at" them!!

Hi Trev, many thanks for doing that and I have 400 - 325 also, you should find that the actual piston tube body is longer on the rear too then.
Cheers,
Matt.

Hi Matt
last i heard of the S, it was being shipped over to the netherlands. i had it for 2 years, then a friend of mine had it for a couple of years, and then it went abroad. i still miss it,but the chimaera more than makes up for it. anyway i also run 400 front and 325 rears, and the longer shock went on the rear.
