With all the doom and gloom around us (see some of the threads below), what action should we all be taking to protect our position.

For me, forget about buying that expensive week-end toy and cancel that luxury holiday to the Greek islands. And stock up on some food & water wink What do you guys think?

Might be worth getting some cash out to see you through a week or so as the cash machines were close to being switched off last time. Having said that-
1 If everybody took my advice we would see a run on all the banks.
2 I don't know what I'm talking about.

I'd put my money in an isolated small holding with a stream/spring, if you are really worried it might get a bit doom/gloomy.

If the worst comes a loaded gun will buy the optimal amount of gods and services at minimal cost.
Failing that a good crossbow or bow..
cash is now certainly king..

I suppose cash held in UK Banks ought to be safe, at least up to £85k per person. But some real cash too would be handy.

Cash,
Won;t be much use if things go properly tits up and it's being depreciated anyway.

Gold, Silver,
Yes, but not necessarily kept in this country. Governments have a habit of snatching gold bakc from citizens in times of crisis.

An isolated cottage with fresh running water, an allotment with a mature fruit trees, Heinz (to see through the first winter), an axe, a box of lighters and a gun to go out David Koresh-style if it comes to it. And loads of good books.

Plus Chickens, ducks, a few goats and pigs, a very big and viscous dog and a stack of jazz mags.

Perhaps if the dog were less vicious, the mags would not be necessary?
