Outsourcing or height of laziness?

I need some recommendations from all you well seasoned folk on a nice weekend away in October (significant others marking of one more of just a few summers).

Criteria:-
• I will be re-united with the V12V so need a good run in the countryside. 50 to 100 miles away from say Heathrow will do.
• The place needs to be worthy of me parking my car outside.
• V.smartish hotel, preferably a spa-type place so the S/O can have a splash in some mud and do her pores etc..
• Excellent – and I mean excellent food and a decent wine list - Harvesters need not apply.
• Cost – well it will be on MasterCard – so priceless!


The powers that be don’t let me loose much in the UK and thus seemingly lacking in lifes education in this part of the world.

I'm sure Di and Tony went to Flitwick Manor a few weeks ago before her PDC ??

Sounded great, and hopefully she will offer up an opinion.

If you are after premier cooking then I would always suggest going to Heston's place in Bray.

So, with that list of requirements only one place to go and that is Chewton Glen. Great Food, Great Spa, Great Service, Big Car Park and if your lucky with the weather a walk through the grounds across the road through the woods to the beach. Oh and it will give your flexible friend the CC a big spanking!

Le Manoir is the only hotel that has ever caused me to write a letter of complaint (to a hotel). In fairness they did offer another stay free including wine and dinner. But the bubble was well and truly burst for me.

Chewton Glen. Very nice and will certainly give your card something to go on!

I'd also throw in Hambleton Hall, but you would have to compromise on the Spa (it doesn't have one).

Whatley Manor is really very nice. Great rooms, location etc. Seem to recall Di preferred the food in the Brasserie than "The Dining Room". We only ate in The Dining room. Tip! If there are flavours you're not keen on seek to clarify what is on the menu.

Lucknam Park comes well recommended by someone whos opinion I'd trust.

There's a good Indian near us with. Bring your own wine so you can choose anything you care to bring with you. Premier Inn 100 yards away.....not sure about the spa for the other half but there used to be a mud wrestling club in Liverpool and I'm sure they would allow her to join in if you slipt the owner a £10.......job done

+2 Spa/Rooms/Food are all excellent and even has a nice little 9 hole golf course at your disposal.

Can't believe no-one has mentioned Stoke Park? Actually thinking about it could be slightly less than 50 miles from LHR. Great food, good wine list, spa world renowned and you can park outside!

You forgot to mention that it also has a golf course. That means muppets like me will be spraying little round white things all over the place while trying to get on the 9th green. The car would be much safer inside!
