Mountain bike mudguards that aren't ugly?

I've recently bought a 2012 Trek 4500 disk and want to get it ready for winter. Obviously I need some lights and mudguards.
The problem is, all mountain bikes I see have those beaver tails and plastic blades on the down tube, and I find them abhorrently minging.

So, any recommendations?

Been looking at these myself, although £12 seems a bit pricey for a piece of neoprene!

I have that RRP Neoprene thingy. Excellent bit of kit - old inner tube does the same job though... at a fraction of the cost!

I've been using these for a few rides now after previously using a RRP-style guard (OK, mine was homemade - a bit of inner tube between fork crown and brace). The Mucky Nutz guard is great, does the same job as the RRP but doesn't hit my tyre under full compression like the RRP did. Works best at stopping high-speed mud.

Down-tube mounted guards are better for slow-speed mud.
