I have just entered the world of scale models - classic cars to be specific, preferably 1/18 scale.

I recently purchased a car made by Otto Models and am very very impressed.

What UK sources are the best for 1/18 scale models. I've found lots of dealers overseas but would prefer to buy from the UK.

Is there any reasons you want to avoid overseas?

I've always tended to use modelissimo who are based in Germany and they are very well known only ever had 1 issue with a model from them ( damaged CMC slr broken wingmirrors and the box was completely sealed when I got it) quick email with pictures and got a mint replacement 3 days later although I did ask him to check it before sending.

Also alot cheaper than anywhere else in the uk too by a long way.

I use eBay or ModelZone shops. MZ is a bit expensive usually.

Many thanks, any additional sources appreciated.

The reason I'd want to avoid overseas is shipping costs being higher.

Modelissimo is 12 euro and you can buy as much as you want

I would also recommend Modelissimo, but I have also used Modelcarworld and www.1zu87.com, the latter actually being a bit cheaper than the others ( don't worry about the name, they stock 1/18th too)

You should consider Toy fairs.

At the NEC yesterday i picked up an AUTOart E30 M3 Cecotto which was brand new and sealed for £50.

Lots of bargains on offer.

One particular trader had a few Otto models. Recall seeing a few Renaults and Citroens.
