1987 205 GTI (1.9)
Discussion
Thought i'd throw up a few pictures of my 205.
I purchased this car in 2008, and to be honest it was falling apart. I probably should never have bought it. Since i'm a bit of an anorak with all things 205, I thought it'd make a nice little car with some TLC. It came with FSH, stacks of receipts from 1988+, 4 previous owners, and long T and T.
This is a also phase 1 model, an early 1.9 with the early style dash board and slider controls rather than the circular controls.
2008

As you can see the laquer was pealing badly. Mechanically it seemed to run rather well. Rear beam was ok'ish, idled strongly (many 205's are up and down idling when cold), and I got it for very cheap.
As time went on it sat in the garage unloved. Replaced a few bits and bobs but ultimately it was fast becoming a one of those projects that seemed like a good idea but the novelty wears off.
Annnnnyway. Fast forward 2010 and I start using this 205 as my daily car as my other daily 205 had its cambelt snap.
The 205 very quickly turned into a money pit unfortunately. I was at a point where it was either persevere with the old pug or weigh it in for scrap.
Anyway because im not an overly sensible person I decided to spend on the little 205, and now it looks something like this.

Not bad for a car nearly as old as me! Hope you enjoyed reading.

awsome, my memories of those are being given a lift in one and the driver turned right on a mini roundabout, i just couldnt get in me head how well it did it i swear you if that had of been my mk3 echy xr3i or the mk2 golf gti i used to smoke about in theyd be on their roof, moved the game on, dont see many now
Nope im not a 206 owner, that was the previous owners photograph from his for sale advert.
It still goes round corners pretty well, especially with new tyres and its rear suspension overhauled. Tis good fun indeed
Been tempted to sell it to get an ITR or CTR but whenever I drive it I change my mind again.

If you do decide to sell, please PM me. Been looking for a good one for a while now - I love these cars. I nearly bought one back in the day but bought a Toyota Twin cam16 instead, always promised myself one since...

Yeah will do mate. My opinion changes daily, god damn the classifieds section messing with my mind
But every drive is an occasion, which is what makes it a great car imo. Thanks man, yeah still use it daily. It's just ticked over to 118,000 miles. Never had any issues, apart from an alternator dying but it was faulty and got repaired under warranty. Now i've said that something catastrophic will probably happen, *fingers crossed*
Underneath is all good, they are pretty solid apart from the sills (which i had repaired a couple of years ago)
Passed the MOT with no advisories too which was nice!
