whats the most outrageous price you've paid for a part ?
Discussion
What’s the most outrageous price for a part anyone’s come across of recent when purchasing something for their car?
I was asked to get a replacement drivers door mirror glass for a friends Mercedes C270 which had an option code of 249 ~ inside/outside mirror automatic dimming. The retail price for a replacement mirror glass from Mercedes is £303 plus vat bringing it to a grand total of £363.60. Then there’s still the cost of paying someone to fit it if you’re not confident enough to do it yourself.
Who in their right mind would spend that much on a mirror glass? I don’t care if the mirror glass is an all singing/dancing mirror that automatically dims at night when the headlights blind you from behind – you could buy a cheap 2nd hand car for that price !
I purchased a mirror glass from eurocarparts for this car for just over £40 – it fitted perfectly & had the heated element as well. It just doesn’t dim at night but who cares – my mates now got £320 left to go down the pub & buy me a pint for saving him a load of money!
Anyone else come across some stupid prices for parts of recent?

Ok, so it wasn't as fancy, but when my Bravo had the wing mirror smashed, it was 12 quid for a replacement and fitting was free (I did it). £363.60 is mental for what you're getting!Fully built up cylinder head for a 365 California . . . .not going to put the cost on here, but I've paid less for an entire 3.2 mondial!
Lots of examples of people searching for conkers wins by buying up rare parts (Dino keyrings in the orignial packaging for £6-800, clock tags for £2-300, 250 toolkits for $10k)

Not my car but I had to get a price for a Techart Cayenne rear bumper once.
The price was staggering (2 parts coming to over £2K before painting) - but nice bit was that the guy knew the exact car I was calling about before I said anything
